Autoclave Supplier Tries Twitter Marketing

Tuttnauer, a global autoclave supplier, is now offering coupons for customers who use the Web 2.0 site Twitter.com.  They got the idea from a news story that described how Dell Computer gained 3 million dollars in revenue by advertising via Twitter over the last couple of years. Now Tuttnauer wants a piece of the action.  They committed themselves to duplicating Dell’s success with Twitter by creating their own brand new ad campaign.

Twitter has been in the headline news lately because of the communication capabilities associated with recent international crises like the Iran election protests and the H1N1 pandemic flu.  Information can be spread quickly in highly targeted ways through social media.  These networks are self forming through ’surfer’ interest.  That means when someone follows you on Twitter they already have some sort of curiosity.

That is a potential advantage for any salesperson or advertiser.  Coupons will not work if the prospect has no interest in or need for your product.  However, if they are looking for something similar to what you have to offer, then coupons may be the leverage needed to get the customer to gravitate toward doing business with you rather than a competitor.

How effective this program really is remains to be seen.  New technology often presents surprises, opportunities, and challenges. As old forms of advertising become less and less effective, new avenues must be explored to replace the prevailing norms.  It’s understandable why corporate innovators would want to investigate social networks as possible ways to penetrate deeper into growing markets.  You always want to advertise in areas where there are high levels of traffic.  You go where the people are.  Right now, people are interested in Twitter.

Specifics About The Coupon Program

The coupons are offered through the twitter screen name of ‘My Tuttnauer’.  This gives a link back to the site mytuttnauer.com.  Of course somebody has to service the account because real people like to follow other real people, not just another spam program. As quality links are made, they can grow exponentially as other users explore and find the authorized dealer.

If just 2% of the people following the account respond to any one particular tweet, those are considered good results.  It makes it a whole lot easier to gauge how effective a particular offer will be.  New sterilizer or autoclave products can be more accurately judged for the quality of reception they might receive in a wider market before the company spends money on other, more expensive advertising media.

Basically it is a way to attract more traffic to the mytuttnauer.com site.  The coupons are real but the main emphasis is placed on providing useful information.  A coupon becomes an ‘Oh, by the way’ afterthought that is a useful tool to close a deal.  Since the site is geared toward one authorized dealer, the program itself is obviously somewhat experimental.

If you are serious about getting quality equipment for sterilization purposes, clipping coupons you hear about on Twitter may be the wave of the future. However, there is no substitute for good research in finding the right equipment at the right price. Our free report can help guide your purchasing process.
