The Pharmaceutical-Technology website recently featured Priorclave’s whitepaper on specialized steam sterilizers and related equipment. The company’s washers, autoclaves and sterilizers feature a variety of exclusive proprietary technologies. In addition, Priorclave’s in-house manufacturing capability permits customization of products to meet exact client specifications.
Autoclaves and sterilizers from Priorclave come with TACTROL® (not to be confused with the petroleum detergent). This is an advanced control system that allows the machines to be configured for numerous applications and operating cycles. The microprocessor control system was developed for laboratory autoclaves in an effort to effectively and efficiently automate the cycling process. It allows optimization of many different functions at once. The system’s self-monitoring capabilities create safer operation conditions and alert the operator to failures and possible problems.
BioCote® is the trade name for antiseptic use of silver technology in the materials used to make a product. Basically, it is an anti-microbial coating that is applied to all of Priorclave products to give them added cross contamination protection. The silver inhibits the growth of both bacteria and fungus. The company utilizes this technology through their partnership with Biocote Ltd.
Unit Choices
Priorclave has a wide range of available autoclaves sizes. Customers can choose anything from bench top units to large sized autoclaves that feature steam jackets and special power doors.
Low volume pharmaceutical applications can be handled adequately with a small unit. The Compact 40 is one example that was designed with multiple applications in mind. It can be used for healthcare, pharmaceutical, agricultural, dairy, food and drink, and research industries. The Compact 60 is a little larger. It can be rolled around on installed casters. It can be used in the same industries as the Compact 40 and they both come with a 10 year warranty covering the pressure vessel.
The 100L or 150L units can be configured for either front loading or top loading depending on the space and use requirements of the customer. While a top loading machine could be convenient for certain applications, bulky or awkward objects might be easier to load from the front. Additionally, the 200L unit is available as a front loading model.
High capacity rectangular autoclaves include the 235L, 350L, 450L, and 700L. Custom built larger models are available upon request. These can be constructed as standalone cabinet type units or built directly into the fascia as in a plant room installation. Steam and water jackets are optional.
A large unit featuring double doors can act as a pass-through that connects rooms. This type of unit may be custom built into a sealed wall space. These autoclaves are offered in rectangular or cylindrical styles. Safety and interlocking devices prevent doors to the sterile area from being opened until the cycle is complete. Multiple doors are prevented from opening simultaneously. This helps maintain controlled environments and allows an orderly transfer of equipment from the loading area to a sterile area.
