Decontamination in cleanrooms is an important process for a variety of manufacturing and healthcare related industries.  Berkshire manufactures cleanroom mops (and other products) that are used to maintain high levels of cleanliness throughout critical production or work areas.  Berkshire Corporation will exhibit their cleaning technology at both the Semicon China 2009 and Interphex U.S.A. 2009 in New York between March 17th and 19th, 2009.  Effectively during a couple of days, they are making a clean sweep of the earth in their effort to disseminate information on their company, products, and services.

The show in China will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center at booth number 5717.  The one in New York City, NY will be in booth number 262 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  This manufacturer is introducing the ‘Berkshire Green Scope Program’.  This is designed to spotlight the company’s focus on environmental responsibility within their industry.

A Little Bit About The Equipment

Berkshire’s mops are certified as sterile.  They can usually be laundered and then re-sterilized without too much trouble.  Chemical and abrasion resistance makes them last a long time.  They are designed to attract particles while spreading chemical disinfectants (when applicable).  Unlike regular mops, the knitted polyester fibers composing these mob heads don’t release any lint into the environment they are meant to clean or sanitize.

There are a range of various types of mops depending upon the classification of the clean room being maintained.  Their use in aseptic areas is common.  Floors are not the only surfaces they can be used on.  Clean teams are often expected to tidy up the ceilings, walls, ledges, cracks, and crevices at all sorts of angles with these devices.  There are different sizes and shapes of mop heads, depending on the specific job requirements.  Telescopic handles for hard to reach places are a popular choice.

Many of the cleaning tools provided by this company are autoclavable.  Reusing cleaning materials makes ‘green’ sense whenever it is possible to do so.   These innovative products are made from materials that can withstand high temperatures and pressures without a reduction in quality.  This makes the continued cleanup of sterile environments safe and convenient.

About Berkshire Corporation

This privately held company didn’t start out in the cleaning business.  They began as a paper recycling company that was trying to make some extra money for the owner and CEO (who was still in college at the time).  The business quickly expanded but then suffered a major set-back in the mid 1970s.  Berkshire, Inc. responded by changing its market focus.  However their positive attitude toward recycling has remained part of the corporate philosophy.

This manufacturer is now a global leader in the development of cleanroom products and services.  The company has had to reinvent itself a couple of times as the standards for these sensitive environments have continually increased.  New and more reliable materials are constantly identified and used for the manufacturing of their cleaning tools.  Adaptation has been the key to their success.  It is their business to meet the specific needs of their customers.  They intend to continue doing that.
